NYSNA Nurses Greet Theatregoers at SiCKO

Posted July 1, 2007

Registered nurses, all members of the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA), along with volunteers from Reach Out America and the Long Island Coalition for a National Healthcare Plan, will greet theatergoers at all of the first-day screenings of Michael Moore’s new film, SiCKO.

They will hand out flyers with information on the nation’s “sicko” healthcare system and what the public can do to help cure it. They will have petitions for people to sign and plan to give out free NYSNA t-shirts. NYSNA supports health coverage for all Americans, financed by a public, single-payer system rather than private insurance companies.

SiCKO depicts the personal stories of Americans who had health insurance but were denied coverage by companies that put profits before patients. In the film, three 9/11 rescue workers who have been denied care in the U.S. receive free health care in Cuba.
