Pace University's Lienhard School of Nursing is partnering with the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation to grow the pool of qualified nurses. Using a $1.3 million grant from the Helene Fuld Health Trust of HSBC Bank USA, the partnership will offer scholarships to 30 students enrolled in the school's year-long nursing program for individuals with bachelor's degrees in other fields. Students who accept the scholarships must commit to working for at least four years at a New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation facility. The $40,000 scholarships will cover students' tuition and participation in an RN residency program, which occurs during the first year of nurses' four-year work commitment. Meanwhile, the health trust also awarded Pace an additional $550,000 over the next three years to help the school offer 10 scholarships of up to $2,500 per student annually to other participants in the school's combined nursing degree program.
