Good Samaritan Hospital Names 2007 Samaritan of the Year Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center’s Maureen Walsh, RN, BSN, nurse manager of 3 South, was named the hospital’s Samaritan of the Year. Maureen, of East Islip, joined the hospital in 1988. She began her career as a graduate nurse on C Unit and later transferred to 3 South. Senate Committee on Appropriations Approves $16 Million Plus Increase for Nursing Workforce Development Programs The Title VIII — Nursing Workforce Development Programs received a boost yesterday evening (June 21) when the Senate Appropriations Committee recommended $169,679,000 for Title VIII — a 13.4 percent increase over FY 2007 — and $4 million more than the corresponding House bill.
