Rye Playland doesn’t officially open until May 12 but the public will get a sneak-preview a week earlier at this year’s Mayfair celebration.
Playland will open for the fundraiser on Saturday, May 5 from 10am – 6pm (Rain date is Sunday, May 6 from 12 pm to 6 pm). The event will benefit Sound Shore Medical Center (SSMC), Westchester Medical Center (WMC) and White Plains Hospital Center (WPHC).
Playland will be fully operational with amusement park rides and Kiddyland open for business on May 5th. The three hospitals will be on hand to provide free health screenings and information, including many geared for children such as, healthy eating, bike helmet safety, injury prevention information as well as cholesterol and blood pressure testing for adults. Outside vendors will set up booths to provide unique shopping opportunities just in time for Mother’s Day. In addition to the park fun, there will be entertainment and special guests including a visit by White Plains Hospital Center’s Dr. Ted E. Bear.
Mayfair started 37 years ago as a benefit for United Hospital. When the Port Chester hospital closed in 2005, WPHC, SSMC and WMC teamed up to continue the tradition.
Fun Cards for amusement park rides may be pre-purchased for $20 and $30 through the hospitals. Fun Cards have no expiration date and may be used throughout the entire Playland Park season.
