Morrisania Diagnostic and Treatment Center
Morrisania Diagnostic and Treatment Center is a healthcare facility in the South Bronx, which focuses on treatment and prevention. Its focus on treatment and prevention is accomplished by utilizing partnerships with local medical schools and colleges. Morrisania's also maintains an employee volunteer bank which contains speakers that are fluent in a wide variety of languages.
Morrisania's mental health services include a Child Developmental Clinic which is certified by the New York State Office of Mental Retardation. It provides diagnostic evaluations and treatment services for children up to 18 years of age.
Morrisania's also provides various other Mental Health Programs to the South Bronx area. These programs provide the following services:
- Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluation & Treatment
- Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Unit
- Walk-In Service
- Crisis Intervention
- Continuing Day Treatment Program
- Other services that are offered at Morrisania's include a Dental Care Unit, School Based Clinics, and
- Women's Health Services.
Serving the South Bronx community means both providing treatment and focusing on prevention. Our School Health Program, one of the oldest in New York City, does both, serving seven schools through five school-based clinics.
Other partnerships also help us to fulfill our mission. An agreement with Albert Einstein Medical School allows their students to work side-by-side with our staff. Our Dental Department provides care through the Lutheran Medical Center Dental Fellowship program. Other educational partnerships include Social Work interns from Fordham University; psychology interns from Columbia University; Rehabilitation/Occupational Therapy Students from LaGuardia Community College; Monroe Business College student interns working in the Phlebotomy Unit, EKG, and Nursing areas; and Pace University Nurse Practitioner students working in the OB/GYN Teen Program. On-site college courses in such fields as Nursing and Human Services, in conjunction with St. Joseph's College, are also planned.
We continue to reach out to our community, both to give and to receive help. Through Mosaic, the New York City Summer Youth Program, 25-30 teens perform various clerical tasks. Community volunteers are also trained to perform many important jobs, under the careful supervision of certified management personnel.
