Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center
Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, located in the East Flatbush section of Central Brooklyn, was founded in 1925 as a chronic care facility to serve the then Jewish Community within a cultural context. As the community has evolved and diversified, Kingsbrook has expanded its services and programs, to meet the needs of the large culturally diverse communities that it now serves.
 Kingsbrook is an 864-bed medical training institution, comprised of a 326-bed acute care hospital and a 538-bed adult and pediatric skilled nursing long-term care facility. In addition to its celebrated David Minkin Rehabilitation Institute, Kingsbrook's Centers of Excellence include Brooklyn's only NYS licensed Traumatic Brain Injury and Coma Recovery Unit, and a Geriatric Inpatient Psychiatry service, a premiere program serving the mentally challenged elderly throughout the borough.
Additional services include a Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center offering Hyperbaric Oxygen as one of the treatment modalities for diabetics and others with hard-to-heal wounds; a Non-invasive Vascular Laboratory for the early detection and treatment of vascular disorders and for limb salvage forpersons with diabetes; a Diabetes Self-Management Center; a Sleep Center forthe treatment of a variety of sleep disorders; a Tricare Military Health Services program for military actives, veterans and their families; and a Caribbean Mental Health Program, a culturally sensitive advocacy and clinic service established to meet the unique needs of Caribbean immigrants residing in New York City. Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center is accredited by the New York State Department of Health, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO), the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). The long-term care facility, Rutland Nursing Home, is accredited by the New York State Department of Health. The Medical Center is a voluntary not-for-profit institution and member of the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA) and the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS).
