Metropolitan Nurse

Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing

As part of New York City’s renowned Beth Israel Medical Center, our School attracts a diverse group of the best and brightest individuals to the field. We offer students an outstanding academic program with the opportunity for hands-on clinical experience at a full-service teaching hospital. Clinicals begin just two weeks into the nursing curriculum.

We are proud to report that more than 93% of our graduates pass the National Council Licensure Exam-RN (NCLEX-RN) on their first try--one of the highest pass rates in New York State.

Approximately 200 women and men, from the Greater New York Area, are enrolled in the School. They range in age from 18 to over 50, and reflect the multiplicity of race, religion, ethnic origin, cultural and economic backgrounds that one finds in a large metropolis.

The School’s liberal arts co-requisite courses are offered jointly with Pace University. As part of this partnership, Pace professors teach the liberal arts co-requisite courses on site. In addition, we recently developed a dual-degree model that allows our students to enroll in Pace nursing and liberal arts elective courses while still enrolled in our program, thus accelerating their progress toward their BS degree. Our credits are transferable to Pace University upon graduation—enabling many of our graduates to complete their BS in Nursing in just one year. We also have an articulation agreement with New York University that allows for the transfer of 64 credits toward a BS in Nursing.

The School’s small size, strong student organization network, and supportive faculty and administration create an academically stimulating environment where you will receive the individualized attention needed to help you reach your career goal of becoming a registered professional nurse.
