Our program, leading to a Bachelor of Science with a major in Nursing, is fully accredited by the New York State Education Department and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The Program is designed to prepare the student to develop the competencies essential for beginning professional nursing practice, sit for the state licensure examination for registered nurses and to build a foundation for graduate study. Upon completion of the program the graduate will be able to:

incorporate knowledge synthesized from nursing, humanities, and psychosocial and biophysical sciences into all aspects of professional nursing practice
use critical thinking, communication and therapeutic intervention skills consistent with the standards of professional nursing practice
embody the characteristics of humanism and caring in the practice of nursing
facilitate adaptive responses of the person, family and community in the promotion, maintenance and restoration of health
assume leadership roles in both the structured health-care agency and in a variety of unstructured community health-care settings
assume a proactive role in meeting the health-care needs of the community in which a nurse practices and in the larger society as well
acknowledge pluralism, ethnic and cultural diversity as essential considerations in the practice of nursing
institute nursing responses to legal, ethical and research issues
demonstrate professional accountability and autonomy for continued professional growth
