Isabella G. Hart School - Rochester General Hospital
Isabella Graham Hart School of Practical Nursing was founded in 1964 as a one year practical nursing program, admitting two classes a year. The school was named in honor of an outstanding benefactress of the hospital. It was housed at the original Westside Division site and moved to the new Northside Division in 1966. When the program was shortened to ten months in 1973, one class of forty students was admitted yearly. Today, the school has a full and part time program that admits students each August.
We are centrally located at 333 Humboldt Street near Downtown Rochester. Clinical experiences, comprising over 50% of the students experience, are conducted at Rochester General Hospital, Hill Haven Nursing Home, Independent Living for Seniors, and the Rochester Psychiatric Center.
The School is registered with the New York State Education Department, accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and is a member of the Council of Practical Nurse Programs of New York State. Graduates meet the qualifications for admission to the National Council Licensing Examination for Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN).
