Elmira College – Nurse Education Program
The major in Nursing provides learning opportunities that assist the student in developing professional competencies. Concepts from natural and life sciences, and liberal arts are integrated throughout the curriculum.
Upon successful completion of the four-year basic program, the graduate is required to take the National Council of State Boards Examination to be licensed as a Registered Nurse.
To progress in the nursing curriculum a minimum of a grade of "C" is required for all courses with a NSG field code. In a course with a clinical component a minimum grade of "C" and a "P" (pass) in clinical performance must be achieved. No more than two required NSG field codes/courses may be repeated.
There is an advanced placement option for Registered Nurses who seek a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Nursing.
The Nursing Program is fully accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, 61 Broadway, New York, N.Y. 10006, 800-669-1656, and is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
