D'Youville College - Department of Nursing

The four-year bachelor of science degree (BSN) prepares graduates for the state board examination and entry-level practice. This program has a strong liberal arts foundation correlated with professional nursing courses. Students begin clinical courses in the sophomore year and complete a variety of clinical experiences before graduation.

A special curriculum designed for licensed RNs who wish to complete their BSN capitalizes on their knowledge and experience.

Three graduate nursing programs that lead to a master of science (MS) degree are: the Family Nurse Practitioner program, Choice of Clinical Focus, or Clinical Nurse Specialist in Community Health.

All programs offered by the Nursing department are fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and registered by the New York State Education Department.Our Mission and Vision

The Department of Nursing will be a leader in educating nurses who will be advocates for change within the health care system, promote a healthier society, improve nursing practice, and preserve and enhance human dignity and self-determination.

In 2004, D'Youville College received a grant from The John R. Oishei Foundation to assist in resolving the regional minority nursing shortage and improving minority representation in nursing. In this program, youth are introduced to nursing during elementary school, and supportive relationships are maintained with interested students and their parents throughout secondary school.
