Binghamton University — Decker School of Nursing

The success rate of graduates from the Decker School of Nursing is outstanding. Thirty years since its establishment, the school has earned the reputation of excellent preparation of baccalaureate nursing graduates. The undergraduate and graduate programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) through the year 2008.

The school is recognized for its high-quality research capabilities, the Elder Services Center, a family and caregiver support network. Opportunities available to students include participation in educational tours where Decker School students and faculty study health care systems in other countries. The School has sponsored tours of the United Kingdom and Greece.

In August 1998, the Decker School moved into a new academic building which houses a state-of-the art learning resource center that includes a learning laboratory, student computer room, and multimedia center. These facilities provide students with excellent learning experiences using a variety of hands-on learning models, simulation equipment and up-to-date computer hardware and software.

The Decker School and University offers a host of academic and tutorial support services to insure academic success for its undergraduates. The Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) provides academic tutoring and advising to nursing students who meet the specific program criteria. The Center for Academic Excellence provides students with tutorial services, primarily in the sciences and mathematics. Students can obtain writing assistance through the Writing Center where graduate students from the English Department provide tutoring. The English as a Second language (ESL) Program helps students with English language skills in an academic environment.
